Dr. Lauren B. Gerson, a Gastroenterologist practicing at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, passed away on July 21, 2017, after a valiant battle against metastatic melanoma. Dr. Gerson was the beloved wife of Bill Gerson, a lawyer at Apple Inc., and the adoring mother of Stephanie, a student at Woodside High School, Jackie, a student at UC Santa Barbara, and Andrew, a graduate of UCLA. She was a treasured daughter of Eileen and Ralph Battat of Hillsborough, and the beloved sister of Margie (Jeff) Klapper of Menlo Park and of Peter Battat, who predeceased her. Dr. Gerson was a graduate of Princeton University, SUNY Buffalo Medical School, and the Stanford University School of Medicine. She served as a fellow and faculty member at Stanford Hospital for over 15 years, and became an internationally acclaimed published researcher in her field. The American College of Gastroenterolgy elected Dr. Gerson to serve on its board of trustees for 2016-2017. Dr. Gerson enjoyed entertaining friends and family, and was an avid tennis player, skier, figure skater, pianist and flautist at holiday observances. She will be dearly missed by her loving family, friends and colleagues. A memorial service was held at Peninsula Temple Sholom in Burlingame on Wednesday, July 26.
